No more a mere local hero for Illinois residents, Barak Obama has become hot, hot, hot national news for 2008 U.S. presidential candidate discussions. He's an interesting guy & maybe one of the most qualified potential presidential candidates this country has seen in several decades. He also comes with a fair share of controversy & is, for that reason, a powerful conversational bridge between Christ-followers & not-yet-Christ-followers on subjects like values, responsibility, justice, & community. Check him out here.
So I've been wondering... how does Jesus inform our political opinions regarding Mr. Obama? In other words, how do we evaluate Mr. Obama as a public servant & potential president through the lens of our "mind of Christ" (1 Cor 2) perspective? And in a more internationally inclusive flavor, how does Jesus inform our political opinions on any of our public officials... especially when it comes time to vote?
